Charlie Peterson

Charlie grew up in Corvallis, Oregon and was an early trumpet standout. He moved to Southern California to attend college at Cal State Long Beach, Fullerton College and Cal Poly, Pomona. Just prior to completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Charlie left school to go on the road with The Buddy Rich Orchestra and has been a busy working musician ever since.

In addition to touring with Buddy's Band, Charlie has traveled with the Woody Herman Thundering Herd, Paul Anka, The Henry Mancini Orchestra and The Brian Setzer Orchestra. He has played live shows with performers such as Kenny Rogers, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Tony Bennett, Prince, Rosemary Clooney, Little Milton, Billy Lee Riley and many others.

Charlie can be heard on a variety of recordings from Big Band (Tom Kubis, Pacific Jazz Orchestra and others) to Latin (Hector Manuel and Latin Fusion) and Rock-a-Billy Swing (The Brian Setzer Orchestra) as well as the three Bayou Brass Band recordings.

Since forming with the rest of the cast of characters in The Bayou Brass Band, Charlie has added tenor, alto, soprano and baritone saxophones as well as clarinet and flute to his repertoire. He is currently the bari saxophone player for The Brian Setzer Orchestra. He gives clinics on both trumpet and saxophone as well as freelancing in the L. A. area.
